About the James Beard Foundation (JBF)


Founded in 1986, the James Beard Foundation celebrates, nurtures, and honors chefs and other leaders making America's food culture more delicious, diverse, and sustainable for everyone. A cookbook author and teacher with an encyclopedic knowledge about food, the late James Beard was a champion of American cuisine. He helped educate and mentor generations of professional chefs and food enthusiasts, instilling in them the value of wholesome, healthful, and delicious food. Today JBF continues in the same spirit by administering a number of diverse programs that include educational initiatives, food industry awards, scholarships for culinary students, publications, chef advocacy training, and thought-leader convening.


Established in 1990, the James Beard Awards recognize culinary professionals for excellence and achievement in their fields and furthers the Foundation’s mission to celebrate, nurture, and honor chefs and other leaders making America's food culture more delicious, diverse, and sustainable for everyone. Each award category has an individual committee made up of industry professionals who volunteer their time to oversee the policies, procedures, and selection of judges for their respective Awards program. All JBF Award winners receive a certificate and a medallion engraved with the James Beard Foundation Awards insignia. There are no cash prizes.

Yvon Ros

Director of Sponsorships and Special Events


Yvon Ros is charged with overseeing all corporate sponsorship efforts and working closely with the culinary non-profit’s industry partners and special events team to coordinate signature JBF events. With the Foundation for over 20 years, Ros plays a vital role within the organization: in addition to her official position, her administrative responsibilities include working with the prestigious James Beard Awards committees.


Prior to joining the Foundation, Ros was the U.S. Director of Public Relations for The Danish Dairy Board, handling exhibits, large scale supermarket promotions, marketing campaigns and coordinating visits from foreign dignitaries nationwide, as well as developing the same initiatives in Japan.


Born and educated in Copenhagen, Denmark, Ros has had the opportunity to travel worldwide and is fluent in English, Danish, and French, and is conversant in German, Norwegian and Swedish. In addition to being the Goodwill Ambassador for the City of Copenhagen, Ros is well versed in international business and the food industry, as well as in cultural and social issues, circumstances and directions in Europe, North America and Japan.


Ros resides on the Upper West Side of New York City with her husband Bernard, chef and restaurateur of the French-themed Paname Restaurant, and their 15-year-old son, Remy.

Victoria Woo

Awards and Events Associate


Victoria Woo Woo works closely with the prestigious James Beard Awards committees to ensure the smooth execution of each stage of the Awards process from call for entry to judging. In addition to her responsibilities for the Awards, Woo is heavily involved in the procurement of donations for the foundation’s largest summer and winter fundraisers, JBF Chefs & Champagne and JBF Gala.


Woo currently resides on the Upper West Side of New York City with her husband Jeff, Digital Marketing Manager and Instagram influencer @foodmento.

Catherine L. Lovett, MPP

Senior Manager, Event Programming & Production


Over the past 10 years, Catherine L. Lovett has built her career as a change agent in the higher

education and business sectors. She has worked at a wide range of organizations in several leadership roles with progressive responsibility. Being an agent of change isn’t easy. And change has been the only constant Catherine has ever known.


Currently, she serves as the Senior Manager of Event Programming and with the U.S. Chamber of

Commerce in Washington, D.C. She leads the Corporate Programs department in the creative direction and execution of high-profile events focused on ensuring small business growth and prosperity in the U.S. She has played an integral role in reimagining the Chamber’s existing small business events and meetings to attract new audiences and corporate sponsors. Prior to her time at the U.S. Chamber, Catherine served as the Senior Assistant Director of Enrollment Marketing and Events in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The George Washington University. She led the redesign of the university’s annual, admitted students program yielding over 4,000 attendees each year. In addition to developing integrated marketing campaigns for this major program, she also expertly crafted overnight programs, conferences, executive-level receptions, banquets, and live webinars to support the university’s undergraduate enrollment goals. 


A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Catherine has learned that southern charm and hospitality go a long way in cutting through corporate red tape and bureaucracy. She has learned the importance of finesse when getting buy-in from high-level executives, establishing trust and accountability with colleagues and internal clients, asking the tough questions of corporate partners, and being persistent in the pursuit of authenticity (all with a smile and a glass of sweet tea).


Catherine is a proud alumna of Spelman College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She continued her studies, earning a Master of Public Policy degree in Nonprofit Management and Education Policy from Georgia State University. Currently, she is completing coursework to earn a graduate certificate in Event Management from the George Washington University’s School of Business. Catherine is actively involved in a number of community and professional organizations throughout the Washington, D.C. area.
